What’s going on my LaDulceLocura fans! You’ve been missed. Well, as you guys know, i’ll attempt to cover different facets of music on Tuesdays and today I’ll focus on an event that really captivated my thoughts, my ears and most importantly my liver!
This all started with filling out a RSVP for some event called “Heineken Red Star Access” which basically is a Heineken’s attempt to keep it’s brand popular within the urban markets. (<—Africana/Sociologist viewpoint lol) But to many consumers, it was a free concert/party that contained everything you needed for a successful night. How else is your night suppose to go with 1) Unlimited Heineken 2)Unlimited Free Food from NYC’s famous food trucks 3) A section of the second floor for gaming/foos ball and table tennis amongst other things 4)Free Heineken lol and 5) A free concert from French Montana and Wiz Khalifa!
Upon entering, there were about 4 or 5 bars of different varieties of Heineken. && yes, they were REALLY unlimited. I thought that they would have some type of restriction of some sort because having 500+ people in one room with unlimited liquor could possibly = pandemonium. BUT everything was cool!
The food, the greenery in the air all that great stuff was cool but let’s get to the music. First up, French Montana!
French Montana’s performance was OK, I guess. I realized at this concert that other than “Don’t Stop Pop That” I really don’t listen to too many songs from him. His stage presence is…..ehhhhh…..he’s pretty laid back. I really won’t speak on him more because his music consists of the same elements:heavy beats, party lyrics, great features. Now, I CAN converse about the mighty Wiz.
What can I say about Wiz Khalifa’s performance? The weed smoke in the air, the fire on the screens in the background. Wiz has really become a rock star in his own right. I must say, after first meeting Wiz in 2010, I still feel the same about his music and his creativity as a whole.
Wiz performed songs from “Kush & OJ” and “Taylor Allderdice”. Wiz connects to fans so much more than I’ve seen a lot of artist do it. Wiz will sit on stage and hold a conversation with his fans while the DJ plays his music. Also, the Kush really is his cologne haha.
The entire night was fun, the event ended at one, and the crowd dispersed peacefully. Can’t wait to go to my next event!
