Justin Combs, Diddy’s recently high school graduated son received a $54,000 scholarship to play football at UCLA. He maintain his 3.75 GPA at his prep school while he played corner back for the school, and was awarded the scholarship. This is the same scholarship that awarded Master P’s son, Percy “Romeo’ Miller Jr. a scholarship to play basketball a few years back. Some people feel that he should return the money, the school should award it to someone who is more in need of financial help. Other’s, Dr. Steve Perry, feel like Justin has worked hard and earned his scholarship and deserves to keep it.
All of our lives, our parents tell us that if we work hard enough, it will pay off. Even if Sean Combs is worth $500 Million, Justin worked hard to be awarded. It’s good to see that he’s not just riding on his father’s money.
A statement from UCLA:
“Unlike need-based scholarships, athletic scholarships are awarded to students strictly on the basis of their athletic and academic ability — not their financial need. Athletic scholarships, such as those awarded to football or basketball players, do not rely on state funds. Instead, these scholarships are entirely funded through UCLA Athletics ticket sales, corporate partnerships, media contracts and private donations from supporters,” the statement said.
